  • Made by bees who forage across the Cumbrian countryside over the spring and summer months, picking up pollen and nectar from a range of flowers including hedgerow and fruit flowers.

     

    Benefits:Like all raw honeys, Cumbria Flower honey has antioxidant and anti-bacterial properties. Considered beneficial for supporting the immune system, alleviating inflammation and soothing coughs and colds.

     

    Tasting notes and tips:A light amber coloured honey, it has sweetness and some deeper floral and fruit blossom notes, and a light lemony finish. Wonderful with teas and infusions, and great with porridge or toast. Would also work well with natural yogurt and cheese.

    Benefits: Contains vitamins, so can be beneficial as a tonic, and can be used to sooth inflammation in the joints. It’s also been traditionally used as a natural anti-stress or concentration aide.

    Tasting Notes & Tips: Pollen grains have a marked floral taste, and whilst sweet, it’s not as pronounced as honey. Have a teaspoon as it is, or mix with fresh yogurt, sprinkle on top of porridge, or add it to warm milk. The pollen comes from a mix of flowers which the bees collect from the areas surrounding their beehives.

  • Alcohol free Italian Propolis in tincture format.

    Benefits:  A mix of tree and plant sap, bee saliva and bees wax, it’s highly antibacterial and anti-imflamatory. Take daily for inflammation and immune system support all year round. Can also be used to treat infections such as abscesses, cold sores, sore throats, etc.

     

    How to use:  10-20 drops, twice a day. Either take as is, or dilute in water. Maximum dosage advised is 40 drops per day.

     

    Allergen information: Allergic reactions to Propolis is rare, but it may cause severe allergic reactions in allergy sufferers.

    Benefits: A gentle honey, great for children. It may also help to keep your liver and intestines healthy, and its antibacterial properties have traditionally been used to help with any respiratory ailments.

    Tasting Notes & Tips:  A  sweet, mild flavour, with a velvety texture. Great for sweetening teas, paired with salty hard cheeses (like Pecorino, or Parmesan), or for roasting with root veg. The Acacia tree is prominent feature of the Novara region of Italy.

    Provenance: Made by the Borzoni family in the northern Italian province of Piedmont. Novara is a varied region in terms of the landscape; as well as miles of flatlands, there are also plenty of hills, lakes and dense woodland. The Acacia tree features prominently throughout.

    Tasting notes and tips: A delicate, light flavour. Try it by the spoon, but it can also be wonderful with cheeses, or spread thickly on crumpets and toast. We like it topping a decadent dessert of cream and fresh summer fruits.

    Provenance: Made in Hungary, the beekeeper cuts the comb directly from the honey frame that’s been in the hive.  It has nothing added and nothing removed so that it maintains all its nutritional benefits.

  • Benefits: Traditionally used as a tonic to calm nerves and is thought to be beneficial in soothing Arthritis.

    Tasting Notes & Tips: A light colour, with a delicate, floral flavour. Its aromatic properties are fantastic with traditional northern Italian dishes such as prosciutto ham with fresh figs. We also like it with sweet (dolce) Gorgonzola or other salty, mild cheeses. Alpine flowers are found high up in the alps in the Valsesia area of Piedmont. This honey is prized because the flowers are only in bloom for a short time and are often ruined by high winds or sudden downpours.

  • Benefits: Like all raw honeys, Borage honey has antioxidant and anti-bacterial properties. Considered beneficial for respiratory infections, alleviating inflammation, and skin health. In medieval times, infusing Borage into warriors’ drinks was thought to promote courage before battle.

    Tasting notes and tips: A beautifully pale honey, it has a delicate sweetness, with soft notes of lemon, and a supple finish. Wonderful with teas and infusions, and to sweeten home-made traditional lemonade. Would also work with natural yogurt and fresh soft cheeses.

    Provenance: Also known as Starflower, Borage is a small blue flower, flowering in June – September, it’s rich in nectar and loved by bees. Our Borage honey comes from Essex, southeast England.

  • Benefits: Buckwheat honey is rich in antioxidents and minerals such as iron, it’s popular as a remedy for sore throats, coughs and stomach aches. Like all honeys it’s beneficial for the immune system and promotes healing.

    Tasting notes and tips: A strong, dark honey with a rich malty flavour and a smoky finish. It has a fresh tobacco aroma and is brilliant in ginger cakes, rich fruit cakes, porridge, and on the savoury side, in barbecue marinades and with strong, tangy cheeses.

    Provenance: A popular honey across eastern Europe, ours is made in Lithuania, by beekeepers committed to ethical beekeeping and the happiness of their bees. The bees forage on wild Buckwheat which produces tiny white flowers in late summer.

    Benefits: Make into a tea to sooth when you’re under the weather. Like all honeys it has antiseptic qualities and can be used on small cuts and grazes.

    Tasting Notes & Tips: ​A dark, rich, fruity honey. It’s got a smooth, almost soothing flavour. We inhale crumpets covered with it, and also like it drizzled over natural yogurt with some nuts and dried fruit on the side.

    Provenance: Made by the Borzoni family in the northern Italian province of Piedmont. This honey comes from cherry trees in the Monferrato region, which is also well known for its truffles and wine.

    Benefits: ​Chestnut flower honey may be beneficial for supporting circulation and may help to sooth muscle spasms.

    Tasting Notes & Tips: A dark, almost woody honey, with a smokey quality to it. It’s not as sweet as other honeys, so is good as a glaze for roasts, or with blue cheeses and plenty of bread!

    Provenance: Made by the Borzoni family in the northern Italian province of Piedmont. The trees are found high up in the Alps in the Valsesia region.

    Raw Acacia honey made in Hungary and British Scotch Bonnet chillies.

    ​Benefits: Like all honeys, it’s a natural preservative, with antiseptic qualities that can soothe sore throats, coughs & colds. Chillies are also thought to help reduce inflammation in joints and support the immune system.

    Tasting Notes & Tips:  Raw Acacia honey, infused with a pinch of dried Scotch Bonnet chilli. The chillies give the honey a distinctive peppery and fruity kick of ‘heat’. Try with cheeses, drizzle over grilled chicken and fish, roasted vegetables or anything that would benefit from a sweet and spicy element.

  • Benefits: Thought to be beneficial for the digestion and associated ailments, including nausea and indigestion. It’s also thought to help blood circulation. Like all honeys it’s anti-inflammatory and a natural antiseptic.

    Tasting notes and tips: One of the rarest honeys, it’s prized for its thick, velvet texture and vibrant, fresh flavour.  It has a rich frangipane aroma, and a sweet almond taste, followed by subtle notes of liquorice. Pair with breads, yogurt and hot toddies, or try it with stir-fries, or as a glaze for fish.

    Provenance: Made from coriander fields in Bulgaria. The nectar of coriander is highly dependent on certain weather conditions to flower in mid-summer, which is why it’s considered a very rare honey.
